Over the years, due to the media, hypnosis has picked up many weird and untrue associations that cause many misconceptions among people. In fact, hypnosis is an extremely effective tool to help us relax our mind and body. In hypnosis relaxation, there are still many things that you need to gain an insight on such as self hypnosis.

The moment you hypnotize yourself, relaxation will take place which make self hypnosis the more ideal tool to release any tension that you have. Self hypnosis basically uses the same fundamentals behind your traditional hypnosis. Furthermore, besides helping you to relax your mind and body, self hypnosis can also help you to solve other problems in your life such as low self confidence.

If you decide that you want to use affirmations as part of your self-hypnosis relaxation process, then you need to prepare the particular affirmations that you want to use before you actually start the session, because you do not want to think about them once you have reached a state of deep relaxation. Then the first thing you want to do in order to actually start the process of your self-hypnosis is to relax your body, and the best way to do this is to close your eyes and imagine waves of relaxation running down your body.

Then you want to start using suggestion in order to father deepen the state of relaxation that you are in. This means, for instance, speaking or thinking to yourself and telling yourself that you are in a state of relaxation, with the most traditional approach of suggesting sleepiness to yourself being with you repeating to yourself: "I am tired and sleepy. I can feel the heaviness in my arms and legs. I am more and more tired..." Typical self-hypnosis lasts anywhere from 15-25 minutes, although you can certainly make it last as long as you like.

Finally, it can be said that self hypnosis is a practical and extremely helpful tool and self hypnosis does not necessary need to have affirmations depending the results you want to achieve with it. If you feel that you need to consult your doctor before actually going into hypnosis therapy, you should always do that.
