In my sister's younger days she had unbelievable abs because she was particular about what she ate, limited her fat intake and did numerous ab crunches each day and, in spite of the fact that it was hard work, the results were well worth it. But everything changed following the birth of her son when she abruptly went extremely soft around the middle, developed noticeable love handles, and was not able to get rid of the flab no matter how many different diets she tried. As if that was not bad enough she discovered that she could not even do crunches anymore because she had severe chronic back pain. Nonetheless, she was not prepared to accept being out of shape and she made up her mind to check out various abdominal exercise machines. Abdominal exercise machines are designed specifically to focus attention on the abs during exercise and nearly all machines replicate normal crunch exercises but are a lot easier on the body. For instance, the majority of people do crunch exercises while lying flat on their back on the floor with their hands clasped behind their head placing them at risk for back injury. Luckily, this is not a risk with abdominal exercise machines since they restrict your movement and force you to maintain good form in order to work with the machine. Consequently these exercise machines are almost foolproof and allow the rest of the body a break while you work on your abs. My sister had watched plenty of television ads for exercise machines but was not ready to rush out and purchase one solely on the basis of what she had seen on television. She did not want to listen to what professional bodybuilders and actors were paid to tell her but wanted to hear what ordinary people had to say about these exercisers based upon their own experience. So she looked online and discovered various consumer reviews for virtually all of the leading abdominal exercise machines. She wanted to discover which machines were well-built, simple to use, and really worked on sculpting the abs and which machines would simply be a waste of time and money. In addition, she wanted to discover websites where she could purchase the more popular abdominal exercise machines at good prices because the machines are expensive and any discount which she could find would be helpful. One comment she made to me was that she was pleased to have read the internet reviews as one of the machines which she had been thinking about getting was not very well received by those people who reviewed it. It seems that the machine in question has one or two significant problems which she would not have discovered before purchasing it. Consequently she purchased a machine which was quite a way down her list of possibilities but which had nevertheless received rave reviews. The good news is that with her machine she can work on her abs three or four times a week without experiencing the back pain which she had without it. Very importantly, she is starting to see a reduction in her waist line and should shortly be happily back in shape once more and looking much more like her old self.
