| Recovery from Your Eating Disorders is Fed with Belief |
|
If you're suffering with an eating disorder (ED) one of the hardest things to do is connect with the feeling that you can recover. Living with an eating disorder is like living life in a bubble. The behaviors become so deeply rooted that it seems next to impossible that there will ever be a time when you will live without it. Recovery includes many facets to help you completely emerge and live a healthy, happy, productive life. Learning how to reprogram and let go of all the negative thoughts and beliefs is critical to recovery. And the most important belief of all is digesting the concept that you can recover. One great way to help you change your beliefs is to create affirmations. Affirmations are the programming language of the subconscious. Whatever you feed your subconscious mind is what manifests (or comes true) in your life. To take the first step in changing your belief, write out a simple affirmation (example: I am happy, healthy, and enjoying my life.) and repeat it several times every morning when you first wake up and every night before you go to bed. As you repeat this statement, your mindset will begin to shift and you will start to believe that recovery is possible.
